These "shelters", "blessing boards" and "altars" mark a turning point in Kim's personal work.
With the onset of the Iraq war, Kim creates solace and safety in the mysterious micro world of plants, insects, shells and natural artifacts. The jumble of collaged handmade paper, pressed leaves and intricate graphite drawings are combined with beads, old rusted tin, wood, plaster and paint.

Three paneled altars recognizing the fragile environments that exist in a quieter place.

Animals, plants and insects require protection from global warming and changing environments.

These "houses" or "shelters" playfully reconstruct a safety zone.
